Saturday 13th July saw our biggest Out of the Box yet, held at Tonbridge Castle in Kent. The Out of the Box events allow La Marzocco to connect with the local coffee community, wherever they are held across the globe.
We were so honoured to welcome over 2800 registered guests onto the castle grounds for this one day event. Tonbridge Castle provided the perfect location to host our first summer edition of Out of the Box.
We filled the day’s schedule with lots of content focused on both content for the speciality coffee community as well as keen coffee enthusiasts just starting to delve deeper into the speciality scene.
The castle itself played host to pre-bookable ‘Coffee & Cocktail Masterclasses’ with sponsors Grey Goose and
Grind, which ran at 11am & 3pm as well as drop in cupping sessions with Falcon Coffee.
Panels ran throughout the day in The Chamber room, and included the below:
• Brandtrepreneur Presents: ‘Social Media and Social Impact’. With WorldWideTribe , dosomethingfornothing and Change Please.
• Best Water Technology Presents: ‘Reverse Osmosis’ with General Manager, Sergio Barbarisi and National Sales Manager, Will Hin ton
• The Essential Journal Presents: ‘Coffee and Cocktails: crafting the future of speciality drinks’. With Origin Coffee, Grey Go ose and Grind.
• La Marzocco Presents: ‘Bike and Brew: coffee and cycling culture’. With Professional riders Andy Fenn and Mark McNally.
• The Essential Journal Presents: ‘Design and Innovation’. With La Marzocco, Roborace and Jaguar Land Rover.
• Falcon Coffees Presents: ‘Incorporating Sustainability into your Business Culture’
Out on the lawn guests could find two Roastes Villages, where twenty roaster partners joined us from across the UK, travelling as far as Belfast & Liverpool (see full list of roasters below).
Entiruged guests could also get hands-on with the Linea Mini and head over to the La Marzocco Home tent for more information on espresso extraction and the premium home espresso equipment.
Another highlight out on the castle lawn was Crush the Rush! Out of the Box at Tonbridge was the UK’s first-ever Crush the Rush, we were joined by eight teams in this fierce head to head knock out competition. Teams competed on La Marzocco’s newest innovation, the KB90, putting it under pressure in a competition built around speed, efficiency, and teamwork. Congratulations again to winners, 65 mm Coffee!
Amongst the coffee focused content, we were joined by Grey Goose who put on the festival bar, local distilleries and breweries as well as a selection of seven local food and drink companies. There was also face painting and carnival-style games alongside the home barista classes. The live music stage provided atmosphere throughout the day, with live performances from Talu , Outer Stellar Overdrive & Hardwicke Circus, as well as resident DJ Hackney Globe Trotter.
Out of the Box sponsors Roborace were on scene providing runs on their fully immersive VR simulator, Minor Figures sampling their popular Chai and supporting the Crush the Rush competition and Roasters Village with alternative milk.
Espresso Solutions ran their E-Shop, the one-stop shop for all barista accessories, Northiam Dairy was our milk sponsor for the Roasters Village and Crush the Rush as well as serving delicious ice cream all day.
BWT supplied water stations for visitors throughout the festival and water for all the coffee machines.
A huge thank you to Tonbridge Castle for all their help in putting on the festival, the local community in Tonbridge for supporting us and coming out for the event! To each event partner, it wouldn’t be possible without your support: Espresso Solutions, Essential Journal, BWT, Roborace, Grey Goose, Falcon Coffees, Minor Figures, Clockwork Espresso, Northiam Dairy, Paradox Coffee & Design, Keepcup and Loveramics.
Plus we’d like to thank and give special mention to our roastery partners: Origin, Small Batch, Butterworth & Son, Allpress, Volcano, Climpson & Sons, Quarterhorse, Outpost, Curve, Cast Iron, White Star, The Roasting Party, Union, Hundred House, Dark Arts Coffee, Caravan, Extract, Neighbourhood, Coal Town and Grumpy Mule.
