Help raise funds for communities in Guatemala affected by Volcan de Fuego

June 13, 2018 in International, UK & Ireland

On Sunday 3 June, the Volcano of Fire (Volcan de Fuego) erupted in Guatemala. Villages have been devastated and the conditions and red-hot volcanic material has made the rescue work dangerous. The official death toll is now at 114, with many more missing and millions affected.

Without the dedication, passion and talent at origin,  the speciality coffee community would be practically non-existent. Guatemala is in urgent need of emergency aid – for food, water, sanitation needs and in the long term, the reconstruction of houses and livelihoods that have been severely affected by Volcan De Fuego’s eruption.

They need our support and we have spoken to our partners and below is a list of charitable causes and initiatives where you can donate to the relief effort. These range from direct donations, to cupping events, through to portions of proceeds from Guatemalan Coffee sold; there are many ways to help the cause….

Every little helps so let’s raise some well needed funds to get coffee communities in Guatemala back in order.

Cupping with Coffee Bird at Assembly Coffee on Thursday 14th June.
