The UKBC heats kicked off last weekend with the London heat being held at the Protein Studios in Shoreditch on 17th February.
From the first competitor to the last the venue was full of spectators watching and applauding the precisely rehearsed routines from the competitors who were creating an espresso, milk beverage and finally a signature drink.
The first in our series of panel discussions at the UKBC heats took place during the lunch break and was lead by Thomas Haigh, Head of Coffee By Tate joined by Malin Rosenkvist head of Philanthropy & Communications at MicroLoan Foundation, Felicity Butler, a Fairtrade practitioner and Maire Reier who working in Trading & Aarketing at Twin Trading. The discussion drew in a crowd and we hope you were watching at home as our guests discussed the importance of gender equality within value chains and development contexts.
Before the scores were revealed guests sipped on delicious Raspberry Shrub Collins and Reggae Rum Punch from friends at Bristol Syrup Company and enjoyed aperitivos.
